Agricultural innovation, technology adoption, value addition, and market access took centre stage during the Annual Kaimosi Agricultural Exhibition, held from 6th to 7th August 2026 at Kaimosi Agricultural Training Centre, Nandi County.
The exhibition brought together farmers, government representatives, researchers, financial institutions, investors, development partners, and other agricultural value-chain actors to showcase innovations, strengthen partnerships, and explore opportunities for sustainable agricultural development.
The Warehouse Receipt System was showcased as a key mechanism for improving agricultural marketing by supporting certified storage, reducing post-harvest losses, preserving commodity quality, facilitating access to structured markets, and enabling farmers to secure financing against stored commodities. Investment opportunities in warehouse development and certification were also highlighted as critical to expanding access to the system.
The exhibition was officially opened by Prime Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, accompanied by Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Hon. Felix Koskei; Nandi County Governor, H.E. Hon. Stephen Sang; Members of Parliament; Members of the County Assembly; and representatives of development partners, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The Chief Guest reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to climate-smart agriculture, research, innovation, technology adoption, value addition, and agro-industrial development.
Through stakeholder engagements during the exhibition, the Council strengthened awareness of the WRS, deepened value-chain linkages, gathered insights to inform future sensitization initiatives, and promoted opportunities for expanding certified warehouse infrastructure.
The engagement assured WRSC’s commitment to building efficient, transparent, inclusive, and competitive agricultural markets that create greater value for farmers and other value-chain actors.
